The Board of Directors is pleased to announce open registration for our Fall 2023 workshop. 

Date: September 27, 2023 (foul weather date September 28)
Location: Keney Park in Hartford CT (Map Location - https://goo.gl/maps/5jMAjTD4gsGPY2ZF8 )
Workshop theme: Back to Basics - While we'll be focusing on a variety of soil properties and field description methods, we plan to showcase the following interesting features found in Keney Park and Matianuck:

Glaciolacustrine/Glaciofluvial/Eolian parent materials:  A soil system in the Glacial Lake Hitchcock and surrounding terraces/deltas
Dune landforms - Windsor soils
Pingo Scars - closed depression features
Pollux and Amostown soils - new soil series correlated in the forthcoming 2023/2024 version of the Soil Survey of Connecticut
Problematic Soils and Vegetation in Connecticut wetlands

Our workshop will feature a series of soil pit scenarios covering the themes above.
Due to a number of constraints, we are limited to 50 participants. Members of SSSSNE will be afforded an early opportunity to register. Afterwards, non-members are welcome on a first-come-first-served basis.
CEUs: we are working with MA and RI agencies to arrange for CEUs for this event
